With His " You Give Me Something "

'You Give Me Something' may be the first single from 21-year-old James Morrison's debut album 'Undiscovered', but it's unlikely this youngster will be undiscovered for long.
Sounding like it would fit nicely on a Stax compilation from the 1960s, Morrison's soulful voice can more than hold its own against the blaring horns in the background.
"You give me something that makes me scared, alright", he sings, describing being worried about falling in love. I don't think he needs to worry - plenty of people will be falling in love with this track.
James Morrison (born James Morrison Catchpole on 13 August 1984) is an English singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in Rugby, Warwickshire, England.
In 2006, he debuted with the single "
You Give Me Something" which became a huge hit around Europe, Australia, and Japan. His debut album, Undiscovered, went straight to number one in the UK and has sold more than two million copies worldwide.[citation needed]
Morrison performed at the
Concert for Diana on July 1, 2007. He performed the songs "Wonderful World" and "You Give Me Something" in honour of Princess Diana.

At age 13, Morrison began to learn guitar, inspired by local artist Alan Deane, when his uncle Joe showed him how to play a blues riff. He started busking when he lived in the village of Porth, near Newquay, Cornwall. After years of playing other musicians' songs, he eventually started to compose his own. His favourite artists are Otis Redding, Al Green, Cat Stevens, The Kinks and Van Morrison. He puts his distinctive, husky voice down to a severe bout of whooping cough that nearly killed him when he was a baby.
